TWIST
“Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes”
A registered purebred Arabian, Twist arrived at Rosemary Farm in Spring 2022 with a baby on board, just weeks before she gave birth, the 5th (and soon to be 6th) equines the Sanctuary welcomed from a 38-horse SPCA case that started back in 2021. Twist initially landed at another wonderful rescue, but as she was essentially feral with no training and no handling, when it became evident she was pregnant, it was determined her ongoing needs would be better served by Rosemary Farm.
Our trainer began working with her even before the rescue-to-rescue transfer occurred, in a race against time to be able to safely support her when she foaled. The baby, C.M. Zephyr was born in the wee hours of an April morning. Twist made great strides, and truly did her best, but when a life-threatening infection required her son to be separated from her and hospitalized at just 3 weeks old, she was happy to move on. We can speculate what may have happened in her past, but the simple truth is that Twist didn’t care to be a mom. She is reunited with her herd, running the fields, happy and free. Once she was released to just be a horse. Twist has become a gentle friend to all.
Her life has certainly had plenty of twists and turns – Sponsor or Staydopt Twist today to support her safe and happy sanctuary life!
