Programs
Rosemary Farm’s primary focus is rescue and sanctuary — stepping in for horses in need and protecting them for life.
The Sanctuary also provides programs to benefit these equines and the local community, and to support responsible equine ownership.
Rescue & Sanctuary
Rosemary Farm Sanctuary’s mission to help equines in need and protect them for life is provided primarily through the Rescue and Sanctuary program. Each equine is provided the care, training, and space to recover, for however long they need. If a horse cannot recover, they live while they are comfortably able, and ‘cross the rainbow bridge’ with dignity and friends by their side. Working closely with our professional team of equine specialists, we make our decisions based on what is best for each horse and the Sanctuary family.
Staydoption™
Staydoption™ is a trademark sponsorship program developed at Rosemary Farm to match special donors with equines best suited to remain in Sanctuary for life. Staydoption™ allows one donor to connect with and provide support for one specific equine at a deeper level, a wonderful and mutually beneficial relationship for all.
Adoption
Select equines are available for adoption to approved homes, under a strict contract. Successful adopters complete an advance questionnaire to be evaluated for mutual compatibility; if there is a potential match, a meet and greet is set up at the Sanctuary followed by a comprehensive application submission and review. All adoptions begin with a foster period and all adoptions include a guarantee of return.
Carriage Horse Retirement
Rosemary Farm maintains an open door policy for any retiring New York City carriage horse, when space is available. To date, four of these beauties have been welcomed!
