NADIA

“Pretty in Pink”

Nadia is a young, unregistered Arabian filly, growing up with her cousins at the Sanctuary. She was born to a rescued Arabian mare, one of many that was surrendered in 2021 to an area SPCA and scattered amongst many rescues and private area homes. The nearly 30 horses had almost no training and subsequently no health care, so the pregnant mares and their unborn babes were at great risk. Several from this group made their way to Rosemary Farm, some with stops at other farms beforehand.

The filly Nadia was born to a mare that was with Equine Rescue Resource, just a few weeks before our colt Zephyr was born to the mare Twist. Both moms were untrained and highly stressed by the births and the constant presence of humans, and after a short time, in each case, the birth moms were relieved of duty and professional nurse mares were brought in (this is an industry that supplies horse ’nannys’ to baby horses in need, and keeps the substitute moms ready using hormones, so there is no other baby created or injured in the process). So while Nanny McPhee was watching Zephyr at Rosemary Farm, another nurse mare was watching over Nadia at another rescue. She then made her way to a foster home, but when she needed somewhere to grow up, with others her age, it seemed best she join her cousins, so she could have room to roam, play and grow up being a horse.

Nadia is exceptionally beautiful, with delicate markings and a flaxen mane and tail. She seems naturally ‘prim’, hates the mud and loves to be inside getting pampered. She is well versed in basics, like being haltered, walked, and getting her hooves trimmed, and is healthy and sound. Really this filly is kind of a Princess. She has a pink halter and if she had thumbs, would probably be painting her nails by now. She is not interested in playing rough games with her boy cousins, but she is very beautiful when she runs across the field. It could be that one day, a wonderful family adopts Nadia and she finds her own forever home, but for now, she is very happy with her friends Zephyr, Kadir, and Holly at Rosemary Farm.

You can sponsor Nadia to provide her with all the training and support she needs!
