SUNNIE

“We got you, babe!”

Sunnie is a young and spirited bay filly who nearly didn't get the chance to live her life. Born with a defect in her hind legs, Sunnie needed urgent medical care to have the chance to walk normally. She was surrendered to Rosemary Farm in dire need, at four months old, and by this time there was only an outside chance for the proper repair, but the challenge was accepted. Care was pursued, and lots of medical experts tried to help, but Sunnie’s legs are destined to be 'dropped', and she will never work, or carry a rider. But there is good news! Because Sunnie knows nothing else, she is just fine with who she is, and at Rosemary Farm she is loved and cared for just like any other horse.

For their first year at The Sanctuary, both Sunnie and her mom Cher received special nutrition and a protected paddock as Sunnie grew stronger, and in 2020, they were able to join a herd group! Sunnie is good friends with the mare Gitana, and has recently paired up with the filly Holly. The two flirt with the boys and are as sassy as any spirited youngster. To see her run, you would not know there was any issue at all with this happy filly. Isn't is great to be loved just for who you are?
