GITANA
“The Wanderer”
There are things that are not easily explained; for example, how a beautiful bay mare was wandering loose and homeless for two years without being reported missing, or anyone caring...but that is exactly what happened to this girl. Rosemary Farm was called and alerted to the situation and agreed to make room for this nomad soul. Captured (easily) and welcomed to The Sanctuary in the fall of 2020, she was named Gitana by one of our generous donors; it is Italian for 'Gypsy'.
Gitana appears to be a Quarter Horse in her late teens, and is thrilled to finally be with other horses after such a long time alone. She is best friends with Sunnie, and flirts madly with Dominic, both horses in her new herd. Intelligent and graceful, Gitana is, however, nervous about tack and other gear. Her prior history is unknown, so she is receiving gentle re-training as the crew gets to know her. There is no rush at Rosemary Farm, perhaps the first time that is true for many of the horses who find their way here.
