SENNA

“The Grulla Mustang Beauty”

This elegant, petite Mustang mare is a grulla color, which is a brown gray dun, with black markings and coloring that would be considered 'primitive', dating back to ancient lines of the earliest horses brought to the Americas. Senna was born free, but like many mustangs, was rounded up, branded, and adopted out. She began her domestic life in Virginia, but no further details of her past are known. Spotted on Craigslist many years later, she looked so sad and lost...the frozen face of many wild animals forced into some sort of captivity.

Welcomed to Rosemary Farm, Senna has shown a gentle nature and is calm and intelligent, but does not want to be tamed, or trained, or even wear a halter. At The Sanctuary, her wishes are respected, and she is allowed to say NO and to set her own perimeters for closeness. In the safe world of this mountain home, Senna has connected to other mustangs, especially the young 'mini-me' Nizhoni, (Nia) who looks just like her! Now in her 20’s Senna and Nia are often found together as part of the largest herd of horses.
