DOVE

“Dove”

When a horse is at a crossroads, through no fault of their own, is often the time help is needed. The reasons may vary but the horse never created their circumstance and no horse asked to be in danger. This is exactly what Rosemary Farm was established to do, and so on a cold winter day, a mare came to the Sanctuary.

A tall teenage bay, she has been named Dove. She is working through issues of abandonment, and testing the humans to see who is in charge. This is normal for a baby horse but not for an adult horse, who by this time ought to have an established protocol for interacting with humans. Sadly that is not the case with neglected horses, or ones bounced from place to place. Starting now, the Rosemary Farm staff will show her patience and consistency in care and handling, so that she begins to feel there is a structure she can rely upon.

Dove is about 13 years old and quite the beauty, and wants to get along. All indications are that time invested will result in a lovely mare who trusts and enjoys friends, both horses and humans alike.

Dove was transferred to Bay State Equine Rescue to continue her training and seek a permanent adoptive home. Follow her journey there as she takes flight in her new life!

Dove is:
