MOONSHADOW
“Happy Go Lucky”
Born wild in Wyoming, rounded up by the BLM* at just five months old, branded to become property, Moonshadow was first placed with a private buyer. No one knows where or how he spent that next decade, but 11 years later he turned up in a kill pen in Texas. He was saved by a kind soul on the East coast and traveled to a new home far away, where no one even knew he was once a wild mustang until he shed out in the spring, his tattoo became visible, and his story was reconstructed. Despite all the best intentions, Moonshadow did not thrive, and it was determined that his best life would be at the Sanctuary.
With no pressure to be anything but a horse, Moonshadow has relaxed at Rosemary Farm, and become a calm and curious friend of many. He currently spends most of his time with Audrey and Wilbur, as part of the main herd, and is always ready to join in when something interesting is going on.

Moonshadow is:
• a gray branded American Mustang gelding
• welcomed to The Sanctuary in July 2021
• a member of Molly & Finn’s Herd
• a permanent herd member, seeking Sponsorship or Staydoption™
• fun fact; despite being a Mustang, he is often called the ‘dog-horse’ because of his fondness for following so closely on the heels of humans
*BLM, the Bureau of Land Management, is the federal organization that oversees the wild Mustangs that belong to all US citizens. Deemed a national treasure in 1971, Mustangs have found themselves being dangerously depleted as they are rounded up off federal lands, and moved to large holding facilities, with a dubious future, all at the hands of the very organization charged with overseeing them.
