Robert Rosenbaum
Co-Founder & Volunteer Farm Manager
Robert is the co-founder of Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, supporting his wife Dawn Robyn in this vital journey to help horses. A longtime vegan and animal rights supporter, he brings decades of animal involvement to the table. The farmhouse purchase was financed by the sale of their beloved Brooklyn brownstone, and his skills in programming kept the couple afloat during the early years, when they were solely supporting the rescue of horses otherwise headed into harm. Robert now has 15 years experience of caring for equines, and is a skilled handler and farm owner, managing the property and equipment and helping to envision many aspects of the growth of the Sanctuary.
Robert grew up in Chicago, but as soon as possible, found his way to California, to begin a lifetime affair with the film industry. He has lived in both Los Angeles and New York City, and was a producer for WNET, making a beautiful documentary capturing African wildlife. His attention returned to the stage, where he has been involved in a wide variety of productions, and seen several of his own works realized onstage. This involvement continues today.
When not helping behind the scenes with the Sanctuary, Robert is a screenwriter, director, and filmmaker. His award-winning short films “That Good Night” (shot at Rosemary Farm) and “Sunday in the Park with doG” (illustrated by Dawn Robyn), have been screened internationally in dozens of film festivals. Robert’s most recent work, “Basement”, can be seen on AppleTV and Amazon Prime, and is being shopped for nationwide release. Future projects are in varying stages and may involve a horse or two!
