Firefly is a fabulous Mustang gelding with the most amazing tail, half white and half black! Born wild and free, captured at a young age, this beautiful bay was then ‘adopted’ and moved east, to New York, with his lookalike brother. Just think about that for a moment, and all it implies. They were intended to be trained as a driving team, but his brother died. Suddenly an extra, Firefly was given away, and quickly passed through multiple owners, including auction twice in a month, where he was found, at the end of his rope.
Welcomed to Rosemary Farm, his true spirit began to emerge. Like many mustangs, ‘Fly’, as he is often called, is smaller than domestic breeds, but he is one of the most active and playful horses at The Sanctuary, always engaging the other boys in mock battles or races to see who is fastest. Today, Firefly is a lovely member of the herd, colorful and very special. He is devoted to his friends, very loyal and kind. And that magical tail …tours love to pick him out from the crowd!
