ELI
“The tall, dark, handsome stranger”
Eli has the appearance of an affable and easy to know horse when one first sees him; with his wide white blaze and strong profile, he seems knowable and easy going... but Eli is a horse that takes time to know, and what is behind his countenance is more complex. A survivor of a difficult home that included dogs being used against the horses, both Eli and his favorite mare Marina have some baggage, and it is understandable, really. He was once a nice riding horse and initially expected to be an easy placement, but Eli was no longer that horse, and one (of many) valuable lessons learned at The Sanctuary is to 'work with the horse in front of you'.
As a senior with caution flags, Eli needed a soft landing and no expectations. So that is what he has been provided. In this case, both Eli and Marina have been established at Little T Ranch, just 15 minutes from Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, where they are boarded on The Sanctuary's behalf. They have horse friends, no visitors, no dogs, no pressure, and this has allowed the pair to relax. Providing each horse with what they need is the priority, of course, and everyone is happy that Eli has found peace and happiness.
