Generally known by her nickname Silvie, this saucy pale grey arabian mare joined Rosemary Farm just before Christmas in 2015. She spent several years alone, a solo horse, the last of a family of horses and people that either died or were sold…so adjusting back to a world of other horses, hoof trimming, stalls, halters, and care was a bit of a shock for her!
As I write this it’s only been a few months though, and she is fully adjusted; there was some solid previous training and handling for us to connect to, and Silvie chose as her BFF the senior mare Annie! Not a match we could have predicted, but the two are good friends. Silvie is sound and healthy and bouncy now, about 14.2 hh and 15 years old, learning again what it’s like to have friends and family. We will investigate her training further this spring to determine if she is a candidate for riding, but her ground work indicates that she has been ridden. For now, we welcome support for her at any level, and visitors can expect to see these two mares greet you upon arrival!
