One of the more beloved horses at the sanctuary, Annie is a senior percheron mare who survived a long difficult life before joining us here. Getting along with other horses is a challenge for her, she is cautious with her heart, but last December, a white arab mare insisted that the two were going to be friends, and they are! Both now hang out around the house or in the paddock with the Square Peg Band. The scars on her body have healed, her mind is sharp, and she enjoys begging for treats and extra meals at the back porch (which always works). Annie is pure white now,
and age is hard to guess on horses that are over 25; we guess she might be 29 year old and losing more teeth each year, so she gets regular soaked meals now every day to keep her weight up. She is loved and at peace.
